Elizabeth Steele Aikin
Elizabeth "Betty" Steele Aikin, 84, of the Orchard in Butler passed away Tuesday after a short illness.
Betty was born in Omaha, Neb., and lived there and in Alda, Neb., until her marriage to Donald C. Aikin.
Their home for many years was in the Dunkirk/Fredonia, N.Y., area. They retired and moved to Little River, S.C., where she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital gift shop. She was a member of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, where she served as a greeter, folded programs and helped with the monthly newsletter. Betty also was active with community activities, such as fall festivals, beach cleanups, collection drives and working the voter polls during elections.
She had a smile and a greeting for everyone, never forgot her lipstick and denim rocked in her closet. She was an avid reader, bridge player and always looked at the positive side of life.
Betty will be missed by her family and friends.
