Dorothy M. (Jack) Guarnieri, 71, formerly of Sarver, passed away Tuesday at the Altus Hospice Center in Atlanta after a 19-month battle with colon and liver cancer.

Born April 24, 1938, in Saxonburg (Ivywood, Clinton Township), she was the daughter of Leroy R. and Thelma C. (Henderson) Jack.

She was a 1956 graduate of Freeport High School and a 1959 graduate of the Mason Felix Beauty Academy, Pittsburgh.

Dorothy was a secretary for her father, Leroy, at Jack's Auto Sales, now Jack's Ford, in the 1950s. In recent years, Dorothy was employed at the Elegant Illusions Jewelry Co. at St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota, Fla., where they lived until December 2007 before moving to Atlanta. Dorothy also owned the D & H Hat Co. in Sarasota.

Dorothy loved spending time with her daughter and son-in-law, and her two grandsons were the apple of her eye. She loved traveling, shopping and creating new styles for hats. Dorothy always had a smile even through all of her illness, fought a courageous battle and never lost her hope of being cured.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Harry F. Guarnieri, who she married May 8, 1965; her daughter, Mrs. Carla (Sami) Zeitoun of Ashburn, Va.; her two grandsons, Daniel and Andrew Zeitoun of Ashburn, Va.; her father, Leroy R. Jack of Sarver; her three sisters, Mrs. Rita (Clyde) Bush of Sarver, Mrs. Carol (Jack) Kepple of Natrona Heights and Ms. Linda Jack of Sarver; three nieces; one nephew; and aunts and uncles.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Thelma. C. (Henderson) Jack on Dec. 5, 2006; her grandparents; and two uncles, Joe Jack and Clifford Jack.

<B>GUARNIERI</B> — Friends of Dorothy M. (Jack) Guarnieri, who died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Richard A. Morledge and the Rev. Mark Carter, O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Entombment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park mausoleum.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
