Mary E. McGarvey
Mary E. McGarvey, 87, a resident of Lee Lane, Grove City, since 1995, formerly of Harrisville, died at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday at Orchard Manor in Pine Township, Mercer County. She had been ill since February.
Born in Grove City, Dec. 9, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl William Martin and Florence Cameron Martin.
She married Leonard Ray McGarvey Dec. 29, 1945. He died June 29, 1978.
She was a homemaker, and she retired from United Community Hospital, Grove City, in 1985, where she worked in the admissions office.
Mrs. McGarvey was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.
She was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1940, and she was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Harrisville. Mary enjoyed line dancing and playing bridge. She was a volunteer at Grove City Medical Center.
Surviving are two children, Linda Wimer and her husband, Edward, of Germantown, Wis., and Kenneth McGarvey of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Pridemore of Grove City and Nora Kramer of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Earl Ray McGarvey; a son, Larry McGarvey; a grandson, Michael Wimer; and a brother, Ralph Martin.
<B>McGARVEY</B> — Visitation hours for Mary E. McGarvey, who died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Milliken, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Grove City.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orchard Manor Activities Fund, Orchard Drive, Grove City, PA 16127.
