Man accused of terroristic threats

Suspect is in jail awaiting hearing

SUMMIT TWP — A man is jailed on charges he held a shotgun to his girlfriend's head and a knife to her neck during separate arguments last month at his township home, state police said.

Thomas J. Cipolla Jr., 26, is also accused of trying to push 19-year-old Jouline Walker out of a moving vehicle, according to court documents.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton on Monday arraigned Cipolla on two counts each of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and harassment, as well as simple assault.

The defendant is in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail and faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Walker contacted authorities Thursday to report the alleged abuse that she said occurred at the defendant's Brinker Road home on Sept. 20 and 29.

She claimed that the first altercation began at a friend's house. While driving back to his home, documents said, the defendant tried to force her from their speeding car.

At the house, he allegedly "grabbed a shotgun and placed it to (Walker's) head and threatened to shoot (her) and kill himself," a police affidavit said.

Walker told troopers that Cipolla on Sept. 29 punched and choked her, and placed a knife to her throat, police said.

She said she hid from the defendant until calling police Thursday.

Troopers noted in court papers that Walker had bruising around the neck and jaw line and on the right knee and elbow.

Stoughton, meanwhile, Thursday issued Walker an emergency protection from abuse order that bars Cipolla from any contact with her.

The alleged victim in May obtained a temporary PFA against Cipolla; however, that order was dismissed in June, court records showed, at the couple's request.
