George 'Jake' Bauder

George "Jake" Bauder, 80, of Portersville, Perry Township, Lawrence County, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 8, 1929, in Butler County, he was the son of the late Steiner and Violet Barkley Bauder.

Mr. Bauder worked at numerous companies in the area, including the Prior Oil Co., Matthews Conveyor, the Pennsylvania Engineering Co., Ellwood City Iron & Wire and Aetna Standard, and he retired from Standard Specialty Steel in Beaver Falls. He also was a self-employed mason and handyman.

He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed with the 28th Division in Germany during the Korean War.

He attended the Mountville Church.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois Hilliard Bauder, whom he married Jan. 21, 1951; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Mark Bauder of Ellwood City; a grandson, Nate Bauder and his fiancée, Gabrielle Lordi, both of Ellwood City; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Sickle of Portersville and Joyce and Lanny Campbell of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Bauder.

<B>BAUDER</B> — Visiting hours for George "Jake" Bauder, who died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Marshall Funeral Home</B>, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. Funeral services will be at the 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James George officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountville Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O.
