Robert H. West

Psalm 118:14 — The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.

Robert H. West died at 1:15 p.m. Monday at Grove Manor, Grove City, where he has been a resident for four months. Previously, he had been a resident of East Prairie Street, Harrisville, and had lived in Harrisville since 1946.

He was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Sulfur Springs, S.C. His father was Herbert J. West and his mother was Beatrice J. (West) West.

He was employed by the former Cooper-Energy Services of Grove City, where he was a machinist and retired in 1983 after 32½ years.

Mr. West attended Harrisville United Church, Slippery Rock Baptist Church and Harrisville Branch Church.

He was active in the Slippery Rock Senior Center and the Slippery Rock American Legion Post 393, where he was a member. He was an avid painter and golfer.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He married Hazel A. (Best) West on Jan. 18, 1946.

Surviving are two daughters, Sherree Lydia Jean Petrillo of Harrisville and Becky Gail Curtis and her husband, Tracey, of Carmichaels; three sons, Robert Terry West and his wife, Peggy, of Harrisville, Herbert James West and his wife, Connie, of Grand Valley, Warren County, and William Kirby West and his wife, Karen, of Wichita, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Herbert J. West of Florida and Donald West and his wife, Helen, of Spartanburg, S.C.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, who died Dec. 4, 2005; an infant daughter, Jeanie West; five sisters; and an infant brother.

<B>WEST</B> — Friends of Robert H. West, who died Monday, Sept. 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard S. Morse, minister of visitation at Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.Donations may be made to Wesley Woods, 1001 Fiddlersgreen Road, Grand Valley, PA 16420.
