Roddey joins panel to review Sunnyview options

A former Allegheny County chief executive is a member of a Butler County committee reviewing whether Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center should be sold.

Jim Roddey, who now is a board member for Vocollect Healthcare Systems, is one of three people on the committee.

Bryan Randall, vice president and chief financial officer of Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver County, and Trudi Stafford, vice president of patient care services of UPMC Passavant, are the other two members.

Stafford's office is at the UPMC site in McCandless Township in Allegheny County.

County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, board chairman, said in an interview the committee members' experience in the health care industry will benefit the county.

Pinkerton also cited Roddey's background in county government and business as being a major asset.

Pinkerton said the committee members, who are based in Allegheny and Beaver counties, will provide an objective review.

The committee will review a study done by the Pittsburgh firm Carbis Walker on what the county's best options are in operating or selling Sunnyview.

County officials maintain the nursing home's annual net deficit must be eliminated or the facility will have to be sold.
