Virginia I. Usiadek

Virginia I. (Planchak) Usiadek, 87, longtime resident of Creighton, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Jefferson Township.

She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Vasel and Mary (Kunick) Planchak.

Virginia worked in the dietary department at the Harmarville Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Creighton, and a former president of the Christian Mothers Ladies Guild. She was also a past president and secretary of the East Deer Township Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Highlands Senior Citizens Center.

She enjoyed crafts, baking and cooking.

Survivors include a son, Thomas J. Usiadek of Harrisburg; daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Finn of West Deer Township and Denise (Rex) Kallner of Buffalo Township; grandchildren, Shawn (Kristy) Finn of Valencia, Todd (Lisa) Finn of Richland Township, Kristen (Nathan) Jones of Virginia and Megan Kallner of Sarver; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Cutsy" Usiadek, on Aug. 19, 1975; brothers, George, Andrew, James and Mike Planchak; and sisters, Irene Krasowski and Marie Godlewski.

<B>Usiadek</B> — Friends of Virginia I. Usiadek, who died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the <B>PAUL R. AJAK FUNERAL HOME</B>, 921 Freeport Road, Creighton. Parting prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 787 Freeport Road, Creighton. Interment will follow in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.The Ladies Guild will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
