Laird W. Snyder

Laird W. Snyder, 79, of Evans City passed away Sunday at his home.

Born in Snyderville, June 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Guy and Rose Waugaman Snyder.

Mr. Snyder was a member of St Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City.

He had worked in his father's store, the G.K. Snyder Implement Store, along with his brother, until 1970. He then worked for Mine Safety Appliances in Callery, retiring in 1992 after 25 years.

He enjoyed traveling, hunting and especially playing with his grandchildren.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant and Kenneth Snyder; a sister, Beatrice Grenet Luxon; and a son-in-law, Edward Price.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Fend Snyder, who he married March 31, 1951; two daughters, Barbara Price of Evans City and Debbie (Charles) Ford of Evans City; a son, Laird W. (Diane) Snyder Jr. of Renfrew; a sister, Doris (Donald) Drushel of Glendale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Chris Price, Danielle (Aaron) Terracio, Amanda Price, Emily Ford, Clayton Ford, Laird W. Snyder III and twins, Andrew and Guy Snyder; and two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Alexis Terracio.

<B>SNYDER</B> — Friends and relatives of Laird W. Snyder who died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 318 W. Main St., Evans City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Saylor, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Evans City Cemetery.The family has suggested memorial donations be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, PA 16033.Additional information may be obtained at www.kinsey-volzfuneralhome.com.
