Emil Tracy
Emil Tracy, 91, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born May 8, 1918, in McKees Rocks, the son of the late Peter M. Tracy and Julia (Strelbitski) Tracy.
Emil was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II and in the Korean War. He served in Italy on V-E Day and the Philippines on V-J Day. He earned seven Campaign Battle Stars and was promoted to captain in 1943.
Emil was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
He was very involved in the Butler Rotary Club, where he served as president, was on the Rotary Youth Guidance Committee and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow honor. He was a member of the Butler Elks Lodge 170, the VFW Post 249, the American Legion Post 778 and the Knights of Columbus. He also was involved in many committees in Butler.
He founded Butler Stationary, which later became Butler Office Products Inc. After his retirement, he became city treasurer in 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Marian B. (Schmitt) Tracy, who he married Sept. 24, 1942; four daughters, Barbara (Ted) Boulos of Gibsonia, Deborah Tracy of Butler, Kristine Sasse (Joe DeMatt) of Butler and Beth Tracy (Ed Gereshenski) of Butler; two sons, Daniel E. (Debbie Dora) Tracy of Monroeville and Randy (Lisa) Tracy of Butler; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
<B>TRACY</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Emil Tracy, who died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Neff, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private.The family has suggested memorial donations be may be made to the Butler Rotary Club, P.O.
