Keown Sr.

Thomas P. Keown Sr., 84, of Butler Township died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler, Aug. 19, 1925, he was the son of Ira Keown and Katherine Pringle.

He was a welder for 38 years at Pullman Standard and retired in 1981.

Mr. Keown was a Protestant.

A veteran of the Navy, he served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 of Butler.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine B. (Weidenhof) Keown, who he married April 2, 1948; two daughters, Pamela Salopek of Butler and Kandice Ihlenfeld of Butler; a son, Thomas Keown Jr. of Butler; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Keys of Greenbelt, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

<B>KEOWN</B> — Friends of Thomas P. Keown Sr., who died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, Butler. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Easton of the Church of the Nazarene, Butler, officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park.Officers and members of the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778 will conduct military honors at Butler County Memorial Park.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
