Edward F. Edmiston

Edward F. Edmiston, 86, of Jackson Center, Mercer County, died at 4:40 a.m. Friday in Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, after an extended illness.

A son of Harry Floyd and Mary Rea Edmiston, he was born in Branchton, Butler County, Dec. 24, 1923.

Edward attended Slippery Rock area schools.

Mr. Edmiston retired in 1986 as a core maker from Cooper Energy in Grove City after 45 years.

He was a Protestant.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

In his early years, he enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He like fishing and hunting.

He had been a member of the E.C.H.O. Radio Team of Jackson Center for many years.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.

He married Ruth J. Uber, July 11, 1947, and she preceded him in death Feb. 11, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Arnie (Sandra) Myers of Sandy Lake; four sons, Harry E. Edmiston and his wife, June, of Talladega, Ala., Robert E. Edmiston of Lake City, Carl E. Edmiston and his wife, Kathy, of Fairview, and William Palmer and his wife, Kim, of Parker; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Margaret Smith; and two brothers, Carl Edmiston and Rea Edmiston.

<B>EDMISTON — </B>Friends of Edward F. Edmiston, who died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME,</B> 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Al Deter, pastor of Grace Church, McKean, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake.
