Violette L. Phillips

Violette L. Phillips, 86, of Middlesex Township died Monday.

Born March 12, 1923, in East Chicago, Ind., she was the daughter of the late George and Sophia (Mazar) Lukish.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Phillips, who died Nov, 18, 1979. She also was preceded in death by seven siblings, the late Mary, Ann, Charles, Jay, Michael, Mildred and George.

She was the loving mother of Toni M. Elliott and Jayne L. (Richard) Pierce; and grandmother of Tami (Robert) Mosier, Mark (Crystal) Elliott, Debi (Michael) DuBay, Alexis Pierce and Samantha Pierce. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Holly and Hannah Mosier, and Sebastian, Cassandra and Christian Elliott.

Violette was a U.S. Navy WAVES veteran of World War II and a member of the National Women Veterans United.

She was a devoted member of the Holy Sepulcher Church and was active with several community organizations in the Saxonburg area.

An extremely giving person, Violette was mostly a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her entire family.

<B>PHILLIPS </B>— The family of Violette L. Phillips, who died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, will welcome friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. There will be no viewing Christmas Day. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Father Albert Semler as celebrant. Interment will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235; the Susan G.
