Pittsburgh officers accused of beating suspended

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Three Pittsburgh police officers accused of beating a teenager are being suspended without pay while an investigation into the allegations is ongoing.

Mayor Luke Ravensthal said today that he has assurances that the city's internal investigation into the beating of 18-year-old Jordan Miles will be completed by the end of the month. But Ravensthal said he felt it was necessary to suspend the officers to restore a sense of confidence in the city police.

Miles attends a prestigious Pittsburgh arts school and says the three white undercover officers beat him on Jan. 12 as he walked to his grandmother's house. Miles is black.
