NEW FLORENCE — Three men from Butler County were among the winners of the Big Dog Coyote Hunt over the weekend.

John Beers and Norman Nelson of Evans City, Ben Clepper of Freeport picked up victories at the event.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Seneca Valley graduate and West Virginia University sophomore offensive lineman Don Barclay was named to the Big East All-Academic Football Team.Barclay is one of 12 Mountaineers on the squad A player must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 to qualify.Barclay is a business management major.

MIAMI — Four people were injured when a small stage collapsed outside Sun Life Stadium, where the Super Bowl is being played this weekend.A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue news release says all four victims were taken to area hospitals Tuesday night. Two were transported by helicopter and the others by ambulance. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints are set to play Super Bowl XLIV at the stadium on Sunday.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The U.S. Olympic Committee will send 216 athletes to the Vancouver Games, including two who have been selected to five straight teams.Nordic combined skier Todd Lodwick and luge athlete Mark Grimmette were chosen for their fifth straight team when the list was made official. Teams can make changes only in case of injuries.Another five-time Olympian is Casey Puckett, who made the 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2002 teams as an Alpine skier. He is recovering from a shoulder injury, but is expected to compete on the freestyle team in skicross. The Vancouver Olympics begin Feb. 12.

Scott McCarron apologized to Phil Mickelson Tuesday for using the word "cheating" when he disagreed with Mickelson and others who use the Ping Eye2 wedges that are only allowed because of a legal loophole.PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem met with players at the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles and, according to one player, said the tour was working with Ping to figure out a solution.McCarron caused a furor last week at Torrey Pines when he told The San Francisco Chronicle about Mickelson using Ping wedges with square grooves, "It's cheating, and I'm appalled Phil has put it in play."
