SV's Cerminara to play soccer at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK — Seneca Valley senior Mandy Cerminara is one of five players Slippery Rock University women's soccer coach Noreen Herlihy recruited for next season.
The 5-foot-2 forward-midfielder is a three-year letterwinner with the Raiders and an all-WPIAL selection last season.
Also a member of the Northern Steel club soccer team, Cerminara helped Seneca Valley win WPIAL titles in 2007 and 2009.
"Mandy is a forward with excellent speed who loves to get in behind the defense and cause problems for them," Herlihy said in a news release. "She is a pure student of the game, defends well from the front and has great work ethic."
Cerminara recorded 17 goals and three assists for the Raiders last season.
Other Rock recruits are midfielder-forwards Stephanie Buckenheimer and Meghan Lavrusky of Beaver, defenders Izabel Scott from State College and midfielder Bridget Stovall from Bishop McDeavitt.
SRU women's soccer has posted 14 consecutive winning seasons, including a 10-5-3 mark in 2009. The Rock allowed a school-record 15 goals last season, fifth-fewest in PSAC history.
