Clay Township man accused of trying to stab woman
A Clay Township man was arraigned this morning on charges he held a knife to a woman's neck and tried to stab her Sunday night.
State police said Michael P. Alinskas, 32, allegedly got into an argument with Jessica Staniz at her Lardintown Road home in Clinton Township about 8 p.m.
Police in court documents did not describe the couple's relationship.
Alinskas, police said, smashed a telephone against the wall, kicked holes in the wall and punched a door.
When Staniz told him to leave, a police affidavit said, Alinskas threw her to the floor.
He allegedly kicked her before momentarily leaving her alone; however, he returned with a 9-inch knife and held it to her throat, police said.
"Then he raised it up and stabbed it at her," the affidavit said, "but she moved her head and it went into the couch."
Alinskas fled to his house, where he threatened Staniz in text messages, according to court documents.
Police later arrested Alinskas.
District Judge Sue Haggerty this morning arraigned him on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
He is in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
