Scoring way up in Tenpin league
It was a big night in the Butler City Tenpin League for Troy Strezeski and Brian Marcellus. Strezeski opened the night with his fifth-career 300 game on lanes 3 and 4 at Sherwood Lanes and ended with a 716 series.
Marcellus turned in his first 800 series, rolling a high game of 288 en route to an 813 set. Marcellus' previous high series was 791.
The scoring pace wasn't limited to lanes 3 and 4, though, as the Austin's team rolled a 3,506 team series on lanes 1 and 2. Don Wilson led the way with a 726, followed by Rick McKain 710, Ed Kellerman 699, Don Mahan 684 and Bryan Cress 684.
Williams wins 2nd MastersWalter Ray Williams Jr. continued his storied career with a 290-217 win over Chris Barnes to secure the USBC Masters Championship. The win was Williams' second Masters title. Barnes was also the victim of Williams back in 2004. Williams now is tied for second in PBA history for the number of Major titles won.The USBC Masters Championship marks the start of the USBC National Tournament in Reno, Nev, which runs through July 4.

Tornado to playoffsCongratulations to the Butler High bowling teams on a successful first season. The Butler girls are headed for the playoffs this week, thanks to a 7-0 blanking of Shaler last week The team, captained by Hope Griffith, finished with a perfect 10-0 mark.The Butler boys just missed out on the post season, finishing with a 7-3 record. Butler beat Shaler 4-3, but lost a tiebreaker to the Titans.The Butler girls JV also finished at 10-0, while the JV boys finished with a 9-1 mark.
Hepler rolls big seriesAutumn Hepler, a member of the Butler High girls bowling team, rolled a 660 series recently during Sherwood Giants junior league play at Sherwood Lanes. Hepler rolled games of 210, 214 and 236.
