Elijah M. Lunsford

Elijah M. Lunsford

In undying memory of Elijah M. Lunsford of Fombell, our son, brother, friend and fellow firefighter who died unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Born Nov. 12, 1991, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Delana (Kevin) Shaffer of Fombell and Phillip Lunsford of Dayton.

He was brother and man of honor to Sarah (Tony) Ricca of Abilene, Texas, Jessica Lunsford of Dayton and Chelyse Shaffer of Hurlburt Field, Fla.; and best uncle to Avery James Ricca. He was the grandson of Karen (Gary) Bauman of Blacksburg, S.C., Diana Shaffer of Apollo, and Gene (Dorothy) Lunsford of New Leb, Ohio.

He was unconditionally loved by many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also is survived by his brothers of the Zelienople Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vernon Shaffer.

An active member of the fire police, Elijah was in pursuit of becoming a flight medic in the U.S. Air Force, which would eventually branch into pediatrics. He so wanted to care for children.

He enjoyed woodworking, making pottery and building potato cannons. He also loved working on cars and hanging out in the garage.
