Rita L. Hinterlang

Hinterlang

Rita L. Hinterlang, 50, of Butler passed away at 12:25 a.m. Sunday at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born Nov. 24, 1959, in Butler, the daughter of the late Martin A. Hinterlang and the late Jane (Madden) Hinterlang.

Rita received her bachelor's degree in music therapy in 1987 from Slippery Rock University.

She enjoyed horseback riding and crocheting and was active in youth groups as a leader.

She loved her family and the Catholic Church, where she helped out in many parishes over the years.

Surviving are her sister, Mary H. (Peter) Kanaitis of Gibsonia; and five brothers, Edwin (Kathy) Hinterlang of Butler, Leo Hinterlang of Herman, James (Betsy) Hinterlang of O'Hara Township, Blaise Hinterlang of Butler and John (Meg) Hinterlang of Saxonburg.

She was preceded in death by her fiance, Donald A. Voorhis, and her nephew.

The family wants to express its heartfelt appreciation to all the people who helped to care for Rita over the years, the medical staff, her aides and the people who helped her with rides and the running of errands.

<B>HINTERLAND </B>— Friends of Rita L. Hinterlang, who died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Herman. Private burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary of Assumption Church, 821 Herman Road, Herman, PA 16039 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
