Alex Kulin Jr.
Alex Kulin, Jr., 90, of Butler, formerly of East Butler, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday at his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1919, in East Butler, the son of the late Alex Kulin, Sr. and Julia Susina Kulin.
Alex attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the NRA, the East Butler Hunting and Fishing Club, the Hunting and Fishing Club of Ludlow, Pa., the North American Hunter's Club and the North American Fishermen Club.
He had worked at the Bantam plant during World War II where he made torpedo engines, shell casings and later stainless steel trailers. He retired from Armco Steel after 35 years as a strip shearer and welder. He received a heroism award from Butler County for saving two people by pulling them out of the East Brady River.
Surviving are his wife, E. Marie (Miller) Kulin, who he married Nov. 3, 1941; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Lynn of Arizona, Mrs. Jack (Gloria) Sabatelli of Butler and Mrs. Jim (Edie) Buss of Connoquenessing; two sons, Alex "Ark" Kulin, III and his wife, Joanna, of East Butler, and Ronald Kulin and his wife, Anne, of Corry; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his brother, Mike Kulin and his wife, Fran, of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, two sisters and two brothers.
<B>KULIN —</B> Friends of Alex Kulin Jr., who died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>YOUNG FUNERAL HOME,</B> Butler.
