Vogel

William B. Vogel, 88, of Butler died Tuesday at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born Nov. 24, 1921, in Butler, he was a son of the late Bernard John and Grace (Bucey) Vogel.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Armco Veterans Club, the Emlenton Rod and Reel Club, the Summit Township Sportsman Club, where he helped with club maintenance, and also the Highfield Community Center, where he was formerly on the board of directors and also liked to help with bingo.

William had worked in the melt sop at the Armco steel plant in Butler for 35 years until his retirement in 1983.

A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jean (Coates) Vogel, who he married Sept. 9, 2000; and two sisters, Virginia Kirk of New Brighton and Nancy Murray of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane (Sybert) Vogel, who he married in 1944. She died Nov. 23, 1999. Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.

<B>Vogel </B>— At the request of William B. Vogel, who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, there will be no visitation or services. Following cremation, inurnment will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.Cremation services are provided by <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
