Elizabeth "Bette" Boylan, 88, of Evans City died peacefully Thursday surrounded by her family.

Born Aug. 16, 1921, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of Collon and Esther (Benedict) McPherson.

Bette was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church in Evans City, where she formerly taught Sunday school and was a charter member of the Christian Mothers. She also was a charter member of the Christian Mothers at St. Catherine of Sienna in Beechview.

Bette enjoyed card club, quilting and ceramics, but above all else, she valued her family, especially the joy she gained from her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Mary Rita "Ree" Magoni (Gary) of Carmel, Ind., Patrick J. Boylan of Zelienople, Dr. John "Jack" Boylan (Sandy) of North Huntingdon and Beth Dias (Steve) of Northboro, Mass.; a sister, Esther "Marie" Asti of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Samuel McPherson (Peg) of Baldwin and Edward McPherson (Kay) of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and three sisters-in-law, Florence McPherson of Pittsburgh, Patricia Pommersheim of Hendersonville, N.C., and Margaret Boylan of Sun City Center, Fla.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Patrick Boylan II, Paul Magoni, Shannon Zolkowski, Lauren Holmwood, Edward Magoni, Kimberly Blanchard, Adam Boylan, Kathleen Karner, David Boylan, Alissa Dias, and Matthew Dias; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul J. Boylan, who died Nov. 7, 2006; and by two brothers, John McPherson and Charles "Mick" McPherson.

<B>Boylan</B> — Friends of Elizabeth "Bette" Boylan, who died Thursday, March 25, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 116 E. Main St., Evans City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 417 E. Main St., Evans City.
