Virginia G. Zimmer

Virginia G. "Grandma Ginny" Zimmer, 69, of Middlesex Township died Friday.

Born Dec. 19, 1940, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late Robert K. and Margaret (Holihan) Craig.

She was the beloved wife of the late John P. Zimmer, who died Oct. 31, 2000.

Ginny was an extremely kind and loving person who devoted her time to countless charities. She was her grandsons' biggest fan, known as "Grandma Ginny," and supported Deer Lakes Football throughout their playing days. She was a passionate Pitt football and basketball fan and loved animals.

She was active with the Butler County Humane Society, Richland Garden Club, delivered meals for South Butler County Meals on Wheels and was an active fundraiser for the Mars Public Library. During her retirement, she helped to develop fundraising efforts for libraries across the region.

She was the loving mother of John (Lynette) Zimmer of Brackenridge and Diane (William) Maxwell of West Deer; sister of R. Scott (Frances) Craig of Virginia, Richard (Anna) Craig of New Castle and Thomas (Anne) Craig of North Carolina; and proud grandmother of Willie and Andrew Maxwell of West Deer.

<B>Zimmer</B> — The family will welcome friends of Virginia G. "Grandma Ginny" Zimmer, who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, Bakerstown, Pa. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Sepulcher Church, Glade Mills.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Butler County Humane Society, SBCMOW, or Mars Public Library.For more information, go to www.schellhaasfh.com.
