McElroy

Shirley L. McElroy, 83, of Elizabeth, W.Va., formerly of Kaylor Road, Karns City, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va., following a period of declining health.

She was born in DuBois, Oct. 28, 1926, and was a daughter of the late Robert Minns and Mary Margaret Whipple Minns.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Community Church, had graduated from Sandy High School in DuBois and had attended Clarion State Teachers College, now Clarion University.

She married Floyd Bishop McElroy on Dec. 28, 1947, in DuBois, and he preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence W. McElroy and his wife, Patricia, of Cooperstown, Pa., and Gerald D. McElroy and his wife, Lisa, of St. Simon, Ga.; two daughters, Pamela J. Wendelken and her husband, Bruce E., of Elizabeth, W.Va., and Becky L. Faett and her husband, Norman J. III, of Mt. Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and eight sisters.

<B>MCELROY</B> — Friends of Shirley L. McElroy, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B>, Petrolia. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Community Church, Route 268, Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Randal Forrester officiating.
