John 'Jack' Hemphill
John "Jack" D. Hemphill, 84, of Palm Desert, Calif., died Feb. 22 in California.
Born in Butler, Aug. 9, 1925, he was the son of Mossene and Bertha Bowen Hemphill.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., after his military service. He became involved in the field of communications and owned his own company, Nelson Electronics. Later he lived and worked in Prescott, Ariz.
In 2007, he and his wife moved to California.
He was a past president of the Rotary Club in Phoenix and in Prescott.
He is survived by his wife, Dee, to whom he was married for 38 years; two sons, one stepson, six grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Hugh, Dave, Jim and Ray Hemphill; and two sisters, Helen Thomas and Olive Marburger.
<B>HEMPHILL</B> — A memorial service and military funeral for John "Jack" D. Hemphill, who died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, will be March 15 in Phoenix, Ariz.
