Coy 'Jim' Chappel

Coy "Jim" Chappel, 90, of Wexford died quietly Sunday with his daughters gathered around at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.

Born Nov. 27, 1919, in Andrews, N.C., he was the son of the late Aaron R. and Mae Gregory Chappel.

Mr. Chappel was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He retired in 1981 from Sheet Metal Union Local 12, and then he founded Jim Chappel Specialty Toys, traveling countrywide with his business.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, gardening, woodworking, reading and telling stories, and had a lifelong love of automobiles.

He is survived by six daughters, Kathy (Chuck) Goessler of Perrysville, Susan (Clay) McLeod of Wexford, Joan Chappel of Butler, Carole (Sonny) Michaels of Economy, and Judy Falce and Joyce DiPero, both of Pittsburgh; three brothers, Richard, Kenneth and William Chappel, all of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Debbie and Betty Joann Chappel, both of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Sean Obermeier, Shannon McLeod, Chris McCarthy, Jenny Reeves, Meghan Boswell, Matt Michaels, Erin Beeson, Chuck Goessler and Michael Goessler; 10 great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends, James Chappel and Dwight Guthrie.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen (O'Connor) Chappel; and by two sisters, Paulene Harris and Henrietta Jarvis.

<B>CHAPPEL</B> — Friends of Coy "Jim" Chappel, who died Sunday, April 4, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Wilfred Goetze officiating.
