3 accused of selling cocaine

Three suspected crack cocaine dealers were arrested Thursday in connection with unrelated controlled drug buys in Butler.

Charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor each and held in the Butler County Prison are Barbara A. Hartle, 52, Albert T. Estes III, 27, and Stacy R. Byers, 20, all of Butler.

Hartle on April 6, according to charging documents filed by the Butler County Drug Task Force, sold an unspecified amount of crack to a police informant.

Court papers did not disclose where the alleged $50 sale occurred in the city.

Officers said Estes on Jan. 18 sold an unspecified amount of crack to an informant for $50 at or near West Brady and North Washington streets.

Documents noted the alleged sale happened within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

Byers is accused of selling an undisclosed amount of crack to an undercover officer for $50 in the area of South Main and West Campbell streets.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendants on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Estes and Byers told Haggerty at arraignment that they are unemployed. It was not immediately known if Hartle had a job before her arrest.

Estes' criminal record shows he has several prior felony drug convictions in Allegheny County.

He is currently on state parole stemming from a no-contest plea in a 2002 robbery in Allegheny County.

All three defendants are jailed on between $20,000 and $25,000 bail.
