MARSHALL TWP, Allegheny County — Companies will have the opportunity to learn how to become qualified U.S. government suppliers by attending a Basics of Federal Government Contracting Seminar on Wednesday.
The 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. seminar will be at the Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North just south of Cranberry Township.
Slippery Rock University's Government Contracting Assistance Center and California University of Pennsylvania's Government Agency Coordination Office will host the event.
The free seminar will provide a basic understanding of federal government contracting, including federal registrations and certifications, identifying procurement codes and understanding procurement types.

HERSHEY — Senior Judge John Brydon, retired from the Butler County Court of Common Pleas, received an award for being a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association for 50 years at the group's annual meeting May 12 to 14 in Hershey.Other awards were presented to attorneys for leadership and their long membership.
WEXFORD — The Woodlands Foundation board of directors has announced the election of Douglas Clark as president of the board.Clark is president of Excela Health, a three hospital system with eight subsidiaries, and executive director, chief executive officer of Latrobe Area Hospital.The foundation also elected these executive board officers: Dr. Donald Reigel, chairman emeritus; Peter Clakeley, executive director; Susan Williams, immediate past president; Andrew Morrison, vice president; Kevin Srigley, vice president, Cathleen Walker; treasurer; Edward Vargo, assistant treasure; and Jennifer Kelly, secretary.Directors who were elected are: Jill Albrecht, Dr. Patrick DeMeo, Gary Duty, Heidi Gerlach, Dr. Thomas Gessner, Nancy Goeres, David Graf, Shawn Haag, Brian Heery, Sydelle Kessler, John Mayberry, Charles Mazur, Kent Oestreich, Joliane Schroeder, Christopher Stockwell and Jan Swensen.The Woodlands is a year-round, handicapped accessible facility that offers recreational activities for individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses.
