SR duo headed to PIAA meet

Slippery Rock High's Jessica Bennett and Halie Sefton both qualified for this week's PIAA Class AA Track and Field Championship by placing second in their respective events at the District 10 girls meet, held Saturday and Sunday at Hickory High School.

Sefton managed 10 feet, nine inches in the pole vault, setting a new school record in the process.

Bennett was runner-up in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 40.79 seconds.

Following are the Slippery Rock girls who medaled at the District 10 event by placing in the top eight.

GirlsTrack Events

3,200-meter relay: 5-Slippery Rock (Jessica Bennett, Mallory Ralston, Casey Dudek, Sarah Cessar) 9:52.63;

100 hurdles: 4-Morgan Siebka 16.36;

300 hurdles: 7-Morgan Siebka 49.51;

800 run: 3-Casey Dudek 2:25.31, 5-Sarah Cessar 2:28.14;

3,200 run:

2-Jessica Bennett 11:40.79

Field Events

Long jump: 8-Jess Vitous 15-4¼;

Pole vault:

2-Haley Sefton 10-9
