Gary Alan Protzman
Gary Alan Protzman, 62, of Butler passed away at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday at his home after an illness.
He was born July 12, 1947, in Butler, the son of the late Gilbert A. Protzman and the late Bernice (Morrow) Protzman.
Gary was a member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church.
He loved dirt-track racing and was always in the pits at Lernerville working on cars. Gary also loved hunting and playing softball, and he umpired and coached Little League baseball and softball at the Prospect Boys Club.
He had worked at Pullman Standard and then at Hindman Transfer.
He was a veteran of U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Victory Lodge 694 and the American Legion Post 119.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ann (Bartley) Protzman, who he married Dec. 30, 1978; his daughter, Mrs. Lance (Garrah Lynn) Neigh of Butler; a niece; four nephews; a brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Jon Paul Protzman, who died in an accident on Jan. 1, 2002; and his mother-in-law and father in law.
<B>PROTZMAN </B>— Friends of Gary Alan Protzman, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Jeff Curtis, officiating.
