Gary F. Sweesy Sr.
Gary F. Sweesy Sr., 64, of Kaiser Road, Butler, passed away at 6:57 p.m. Sunday, surrounded by his family at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born in Butler, May 17, 1945, he was the son of the late Fred D. Sweesy and Winona A. Blain Sweesy.
Gary graduated from Butler High School in 1963, and after three years at Youngstown State University, he joined the Marines in 1966 through 1970 and was proud to have served in Vietnam.
Once a Marine, always a Marine — Semper Fi.
Gary was a proud member of AA and loved the program and his AA family.
He was a Presbyterian.
Gary retired from Armco in 2000 after 25 years in the trucks department.
Having a very unique sense of humor, he always had a witty answer for every occasion and was a friend to all who knew him.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Gary is survived by his wife, Gloria Marin Sweesy, who he married Sept. 16, 1995; one son, Gary F. Sweesy Jr. of New Castle; one daughter, Brandee Sweesy of Marathon, Fla.; two stepsons, William Clark Jr. and Anthony (Beth) Clark, both of Klamath Falls, Ore.; five grandchildren Gary F. Sweesy III of Petrolia, and Madison, Allyson, Makay and Acen Clark of Klamath Falls, Ore.; one brother, Tom (Sandra) Sweesy of Saxonburg; one sister, Nancy Sweesy of Butler; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Cleo) Marin and Philip (Naomi) Marin, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; six aunts; one uncle; two nieces; and numerous cousins.
