Ruth L. Dietrich
Ruth L. Dietrich, 94, formerly of East Penn Street, Butler, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 23, 1915, in Omaha, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Martin and Florence Hilton Rice.
She was a homemaker and a private piano and organ teacher. She was a member of the Christian Endeavor movement since the 1930s and served many years as the missionary superintendent in it. She was a pianist and organist, as well as a Sunday school teacher in her church, formerly the Bethany United Church of Christ. She was a member of the AARP.
She also served for many years as PTA president at Emily Brittain Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Leroy Dietrich, who died Sept. 8, 1989; two brothers; and a sister.
She is survived by three sons, Vernon Lee Dietrich of Peninsula, Ohio, Kenneth E. Dietrich and his wife, JoAnn, of Greenville and Norman G. Dietrich and his wife, Jane, of Hudson, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. J. Edgar (Elaine) Rynd of Slippery Rock and Mrs. Jonathan (Joyce) Stehle of Port Allegany; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
<B>DIETRICH — </B>Friends and family of Ruth L. Dietrich, who died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, </B>124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Ishler, pastor of the former Bethany United Church of Christ, officiating.
