Eleanor M. Green
Eleanor M. Green, 87, of Bonniebrook Road in Butler died Sunday at her home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Butler, a daughter of the late George J. and Cecelia Geibel Thoma.
Eleanor was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and was a former Sunday school teacher at her church. She also was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Green most enjoyed her family, friends and church. Her hobbies included crafts, gardening and playing cards.
She married Gerald T. Green on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1996.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Daniel J. and Robin Green of Dennis, Mass., and Richard G. and LuAnn Green of Butler; a brother, Clair Thoma of Chicora; and six grandchildren, Ellie, Katie, Nick, Mike, Eric and Chad Green. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
<B>GREEN</B> — Friends of Eleanor M. Green, who died Sunday, June 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center with Father Steven Neff, pastor, officiating.
