DeRose

Carmen B. DeRose, 84, of New Haven Court, Butler, died Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit in Butler.

Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Pinebluff, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Edward G. Adams Sr. and Beatrice Adcox Adams.

She worked at the Montgomery Ward store in Butler for 17 years.

Carmen was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler for more than 56 years. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers, and she belonged to Friends of the Butler Public Library.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and traveling, She also was an avid reader.

She is survived by two daughters, Antoinette Elliott and her husband, Lester Jr., and Suzanne Greenert and her husband, James; and one granddaughter, Mackenzie Greenert, all of Butler; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by one brother, W. Jerry Adams of North Carolina; two sisters, Linda Adams of South Carolina and Gladys Lester of New Jersey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. DeRose was preceded in death by her husband, John P. DeRose, who she married in 1944 and who passed away Sept. 18, 1992; two sisters; and two brothers.

<B>DEROSE</B> — Friends of Carmen B. DeRose, who died Thursday, June 10, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:35 a.m. Monday at the church to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
