Tomlin

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh newspaper is reporting that the Steelers have given coach Mike Tomlin a three-year contract extension.

The newspaper says Steelers president Art Rooney negotiated the deal. Terms were not available.

The Steelers had no comment Tuesday.

Tomlin was hired by the Steelers in 2007. He had one year and an option left on his 5-year deal, which was worth about $2.5 million annually.

Tomlin led the Steelers to a Super Bowl win in 2008, but then went 9-7 the following year.

SEWICKLEY — Rob McClellan of Butler Country Club tied for 12th place with a 148 at the two-day Sewickley Heights Open, which concluded Tuesday.McClellan followed Monday's 75 with a 73, while Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club tied for 15th (73-76-149) and John Aubrey Sr., of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred was tied for 19th (75-76-151).Doug Sutter of Treesdale also took part, tying for 42nd place (80-79-159).Roy Vucinich of Allegheny Country Club edged fellow club member John Aber by scoring an eagle on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff after they tied with 141s.

WASHINGTON — The Negro Leagues take the baseball field again Thursday as the Postal Service honors the organizations that gave black players a chance to show their talents before the major leagues were integrated.A pair of 44-cent commemorative stamps will be dedicated in ceremonies at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo.One stamp shows a close play at home plate, while the other commemorates Andrew "Rube" Foster, founder of the leagues that operated from 1920 to 1960.
