Thomas J. Simpson
Thomas J. Simpson, 54, formerly of Saxonburg, died June 1 at his home in Byram Township, N.J.
Tom was born Sept. 2, 1955, in Natrona Heights, the son of the late Alex Simpson and Virginia Skelton Simpson.
Tom grew up in Saxonburg and moved to New Jersey to establish his career.
Tom earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a master's of business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
He recently retired from his position as chairman and CEO of Caduceus Marketing Research of Mount Arlington, N.J.
In his youth, Tom was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and attended the International Boy Scout Jamboree in Japan in 1971.
Tom enjoyed socializing with his numerous friends, running model railroads, bicycling, flying and skiing, and he participated in triathlons.
Tom is survived by his loving and supportive daughter, Merrill M. of Byram Township; a stepdaughter, Shelby C. Rhodes of Byram Township; and a son-in-law, Mark S. Hartmann Jr. of Byram Township. Also surviving outside of New Jersey are his sister, Sandra Simpson of Saxonburg; a brother-in-law, Jim Sorenson of Saxonburg; his longtime friend, Martha Choy of New York, N.Y.; his aunt, Anne Merlino of Clayton, N.C.; his uncle, Jack Simpson of Trafford; and many cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his ex-wife, Michele G. Rhodes-Simpson.
