Harry P. Rumbaugh, 77, of Butler, formerly of Greensburg, died at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born July 25, 1932, in Kaylor, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Wilbur P. Rumbaugh and Helen McElhaney Rumbaugh.

Mr. Rumbaugh was a manager of the Ames-Murphy stores, retiring after 47 years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Greensburg, and he also attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in America in Butler.

Mr. Rumbaugh was a member of the VFW Post 249 and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Rumbaugh is survived by his wife, Rachel Snyder Rumbaugh, who he married Feb. 14, 1958; also by one daughter, Sharon Morgan and her husband, Michael, of Circleville, Ohio; one son, David B. Rumbaugh of Butler; three grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Morgan and Deleana Rumbaugh; and one great-grandson, Keith Morgan.

Also surviving are eight brothers, Walt Rumbaugh and his wife, Emiley, of Harrisville, Lee Rumbaugh and his wife, Cheryl, of Cabot, Richard Rumbaugh and his wife, Rose, of Chicora, Bernard Rumbaugh and his wife, Diane, of Chicora, Robert Rumbaugh and his wife, Dolly, of Chicora, Alvin Rumbaugh and his wife, Tanya, of Chicora, Jack Rumbaugh and his wife, Cathy, of Cabot and Dennis Rumbaugh and his wife, Leann, of Butler; three sisters, Virginia Rumbaugh and Lois Rumbaugh of East Brady and Maxine Smith and her husband, William, of East Brady; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>RUMBAUGH </B>— Friends of Harry P. Rumbaugh, who died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Walt Coopersmith of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 778 and the VFW Post 249 will conduct a graveside military service at Oak Grove Cemetery.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
