Albert Benjamin Lantz
Albert Benjamin "Benny" Lantz, 75, of Karns City passed away at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kittanning Care Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Butler, the son of the late Howard Benson Lantz and the late Janet (Sherman) Lantz French.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Benny was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Chicora Moose Lodge and the East Brady American Legion, a lifetime member of Parker VFW, and a member of District 14N Lions Club, the Stoneboro Historical Society and the Pennsylvania Pardon and Parole Board.
He was a past mayor of Petrolia and had owned and operated Lantzers Inn Bar & Restaurant and retired from the Butler Packing.
He enjoyed collecting coins, antiques, traveling, and clowning. He had been a clown for the Lions Club for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Virginia L. "Ginny" (Hoffman) Lantz; six daughters, Becky (Dennis) Miller of Butler, Susan (William) Shaffer of New York, Goldie (Jerry) Deal of Butler, Gail Velmar of Sharon, Chrissy (Brian) Crouch of Butler and Tracy (Rick) Belles of Karns City; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Darlyne (William) McFarland of Butler, Lois (Rich) Nolan of Butler and Patricia Suthern of Canton, Ohio; a brother, Dave (Karen) French of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and granddaughter.
<B>LANTZ</B> — Friends of Albert Benjamin "Benny" Lantz, who died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, with the Rev. James A. Higgins, his pastor, officiating.
