Eleanor R. McCleary

Eleanor R. McCleary, 77, of Grove City since 1972, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died at 1 a.m. Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital. She was ill since April.

Born Nov. 29, 1932, in Woodbury, she was the daughter of Lloyd Nelson Brubaker and Marjorie Bowser Brubaker.

She married Melvin R. McCleary Sr. on Jan. 20, 1964. He survives her.

She was a homemaker, and for the past 25 years she was a clerk and bakery worker at Bi Lo Grocery Store, Grove City. She enjoyed working there, serving customers and especially all the children she served cookies and bakery items to over the years.

She believed in the Jehovah's Witness Faith.

She was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by three children, Sandra McCarl and her husband, Kim, of Mercer, Sondra Vollmer and her husband, David, of Clinton, and Melvin R. McCleary Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren, Cassandra McCarl, Madeline McCleary, Andrew Vollmer, Elizabeth Vollmer, Mitchell McCleary and Benjamin Vollmer; three sisters, Mary Burkheimer and her husband, Don, Esther Cramer and Kay Brubaker, all of Hollidaysburg; a brother, Galen Brubaker and his wife, Martha, of Goshen, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and an infant brother.

<B>McCLEARY</B> — Friends of Eleanor R. McCleary, who died Thursday, June 24, 2010, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from noon until the 1:30 p.m. Saturday service at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, with the Rev. Dennis J. Rupp officiating. Burial will be at the Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
