Loans offered for frost loss

Emergency loans are available to farmers who suffered damage during a late-season frost in early May.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency will provide emergency loans up to $500,000.

Luke Fritz, county executive of the Butler County Farm Service Agency, said people should call the Mercer County branch for information, even if the property is in Butler County. The Mercer office can be reached at 724-662-2890, Ext. 2.

U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper, D-3rd, announced the availability of the loans recently after a disaster designation for the May 8 and May 10 frosts.
