Josephine A. Sommariva

Josephine A. Sommariva, 91, of Butler, passed away Friday morning at Fosnight Personal Care Home in Valencia.

Born in Boyers on April 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Theresa Rich Lucco.

She was a homemaker.

She was formerly employed at Castle Rubber Company, and was a former cook at the Monroe Hotel for 20 years.

She was an avid gardener.

She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Ladies' Guild of Saint Michael's.

She is survived by one son, Vincent J. Sommariva, and his wife, Vinnette, of Mars; two daughters, Theresa Yanni and her husband, Benny, of Weirton, W.V., and Kathleen Foley and her husband, Jeffrey, of Butler; two brothers, Richard Lucco of Mobile, Ala., and James Lucco of Butler; a sister, Caroline Cossette and her husband, George, of California and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tad Sommariva, who died March 9, 1992, three brothers and two sisters.

<B>Sommariva</B> — Friends of Josephine Sommariva, who died Friday July 30, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.Burial will take place in Saint Michael's Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home to conduct a scriptural wake service.
