10:57 a.m. Tuesday — Rebecca Merrison, 41, was arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband, Stephen Merrison, during a domestic dispute at their Oliver Drive home. Merrison was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and is free on $2,500 unsecured bail.
12:56 a.m. Friday — Jason McCandless, 22, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at East Poplar Street and Greenwood Drive.
Tuesday — A 21-year-old Cabot man, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing $295 of items from a Winfield Road home in Winfield Township. The theft, which happened between 8:10 a.m. and 5:10 p.m., remains under investigation.4:50 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Shawn L. Crawford, 45, of Petrolia and a motorcycle driven by Michael D. Cubbage, 26, of Karns City collided on Hooker Road near Haysville Road in Fairview Township.Audra L. Cubbage, 24, of Petrolia, a passenger on the motorcycle, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both occupants of the motorcycle were wearing helmets.Police said Crawford was cited for driving with a suspended license and other unspecified traffic violations.3:35 p.m. Friday — One person was hurt in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.The crash happened, police said, when a car driven by Mary Teyssier, 72, of Canonsburg, Washington County, spun out of control after hitting a cement median. Her car collided with a vehicle driven by Emily Swanson, 28, of Monroeville, Allegheny County.That collision, police said, caused a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles driven by Meagan M. Aiken, 26, of Portersville and Amanda N. Ash, 29, of Barberton, Ohio.Police said Teyssier, who was treated at UPMC Passavant Cranberry for minor injuries, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.The crash snarled northbound traffic for hours.July 26 — A would-be safe cracker walked away empty-handed during a burglary at St. Wendelin School in Oakland Township. The unknown burglar, once inside the school, tried but failed to break open a safe in the principal's office between July 23 and 26.Police noted nothing else was tampered with in the school, and no property was taken. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
