Rose K. Hall
Rose K. Hall, 81, of Butler, beloved mother, wife and friend, passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian hospital after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 16, 1928, in Bellevue, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Kurtz and Gertrude Emsminger Kurtz.
After graduating from Bellevue High School in 1946, she went to business school and then worked in New Castle, where she met the love of her life, Dr. C. Kenneth Hall, who she married on June 23, 1956.
While her children were small, she worked as a part-time teacher's aide at the Center Avenue Elementary School and the Clarence C. Brown Special School. As her children grew older, she took a full-time job at Domestic Relations of Butler County, where she worked for 17 years, retiring in 1993. When restlessness overtook her, she worked as a part-time receptionist for the office of attorney Gwilym A. Price for several years before finally retiring for good.
Despite having severe rheumatoid arthritis, she never lost her sense of humor. In her later years, she kept busy with volunteer work. She was a member of the Family Selection Committee of Habitat for Humanity's Butler Chapter, a tutor for Butler County Community College's Adult Literacy Program, a 40-year member of the Meadowwood Bridge Club, a volunteer morning caller for Concordia Telecaregivers and an active member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church and the Joann Griffith Circle.
Mrs. Hall is survived by one daughter, Carole S. Hall of Butler; one son, Roger A. Hall of Chicora; one sister, Elinor Phillippi of San Antonio, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C. Kenneth Hall, who passed away Oct. 15, 2004; and by one sister, Margy Campbell.
