Kathy Dahlkemper, D-3rd, and

Jason Altmire, D-4th, this week voted for legislation that would provide $600 million in funds to help protect the U.S.-Mexico border.The Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Border Security calls for more than $240 million to hire 1,000 new Border Patrol agents and 250 new Customs and Border Protection agents.Altmire noted the measure would improve surveillance technology along the border and strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug-related violenceDahlkemper said the legislation seeks to improve communications capabilities between federal border enforcement and state and local officers.——-—The campaign for

Mike Kelly, the Republican candidate in the U.S. House of Representatives' 3rd District, announced its county coordinators and core leadership team on the campaign committee.County coordinators will advise the campaign on local campaign strategy in addition to serving as speaking surrogates.The 3rd District includes most of Butler County, all of Erie County and parts of Crawford, Warren, Mercer, Armstrong and Venango counties.County coordinators include:Butler — Art Rauschenberger, Butler County GOP chairman.Mercer — Ginny Richardson, Mercer County treasurer, and Walter Richardson, GOP State Committee member.Armstrong — William Rush, former Armstrong County GOP chairman.Venango — Sam Breene.
