Romeo Cammisa
Romeo Cammisa, 81, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Italy on Feb. 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Michele and Roccina DiAsio Cammisa.
He was a mail carrier in Butler, retiring in 1984 after 30 years.
He was a former life guard and manager at Memorial Swimming Pool in Butler, and he was the former owner of Cammisa's Dry Cleaning.
Romeo was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the 55 & Alive of Saint Michael Church.
He is survived by his special friend of 14 years, Marilyn Hinchberger of Butler; two sons, Michael D. Cammisa and his wife, Corinne, of Tampa, Fla. and Matthew S. Cammisa and his wife, Pamela, of Asheville, N.C; two daughters, Helen M. Cammisa-Parks and her husband, Christopher, of Boonton, N.J., and Barbara Cammisa of Pittsburgh; two brothers, John Cammisa and his wife, Margaret, of Butler, and Michael Cammisa and his wife, Sandra, of Butler; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Constantina DiAsio Cammisa, who raised him from birth; and brothers, Vincent, Angelo and Albert Cammisa.
<B>CAMMISA</B> — Friends of Romeo Cammisa, who died Thursday, July 15, 2010, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Father James Dolan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Saint Michael Cemetery.The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday to conduct a Scriptural Wake Service.Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the V.F.W. Post 249 of Butler and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
