Bertha Jane McCandless, 91, of Mars died Saturday afternoon at UPMC Passavant hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Penn Township, Butler County, Oct. 13, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Chris and Catherine Bulford Wagner.

She had been a clerk for the Mars Super Dollar.

She was a member of the Mars Alliance Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair L. "Mutt" McCandless, who died April 11, 1991. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Rahiser, Ada Wagner, Hazel Pollock and Clara Blank; and eight brothers, Paul, Lawrence, Lester, Roy E., Marvin A., Wallace C., Clair N. and Walter C. Wagner.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.
