John R. "Lightning" Guerre, 74, of Clinton Township died Monday at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Shaler, and he has lived in Clinton Township for the past 38 years.

He worked as a maintenance worker for Witco Chemical for more than 14 years.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0683 of Sarver and the North American Hunting Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and mostly spending time with his brothers and family.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marilynn C. "Snookie" (Griggle) Guerre; daughters, Kimberly (Raymond) Bower of Lockhaven, Pamela J. Guerre and Ami Grey, both at home; a son, the Rev. John (Lisa) Guerre of Melbourne, Fla.; grandchildren, Anthony M. and Jessica Villella, Stephen and Kelli Guerre, Charles Burkhart, Ashleigh Young and Noah Grey; brothers, Leonard Guerre of West Deer, Anthony (Kathy) Guerre of Orlando, Fla., Rudolph Guerre, William (Dana) Guerre, James (Kerryn) Guerre and Joseph (Sharon) Guerre, all of West Deer; and sisters Madelyn (Edward) Tracey of Ellwood City and Bettina Guerre of Arlington, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Anna K. (Mangine) Guerre; and a sister, Patricia Cobb.

<B>GUERRE</B> — The family of John R. "Lightning" Guerre, who died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME</B>, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with his son, the Rev.
