David J. Hughes

David Joseph Hughes, 52, of Butler passed away suddenly Wednesday at his home.

He was born Nov. 6, 1957, in Butler, the son of Jennie (Wdovin) Hughes of Butler and the late Robert Hughes.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Thorncreek United Methodist Church, the Outdoor Life Lodge and the Culmerville Sportsman's Club.

He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, cave exploring and motorcycles.

He was a forklift operator for Kelman's Bottling.

Also surviving along with his mother are a son, David Daniel Hughes of Butler; a granddaughter, Madison Hughes; three sisters, Barbara (Daniel) Tompkins, Betty Diane Hughes and Darlene Lavery, all of Butler; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Hughes of Coatesville and Gary Hughes of Conway, Alaska; and many extended family members and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his fiancee, Cathy Stepp.

<B>HUGHES </B>— Friends of David Joseph Hughes, who died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, will be received from 2 until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. Monday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W.
