Irene B. Wickline

Wickline

Irene B. Wickline, 78, of Ford City died Wednesday at the Armstrong County Health Center in Kittanning.

She was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Elderton, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Blakney) Baker.

On Nov. 24, 1950, Irene married Sherman on a day that will never be forgotten because of the three feet of snow on the ground and the bitter cold weather.

Mrs. Wickline was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning and also the Bloom Gals Quilting Club.

Irene worked for many businesses over the years, including Quaker State Oil and the YMCA as a bookkeeper and secretary, Jamesway, where she was in charge of the service desk, and then with Alltel where she was a supervisor, retiring in 1993 after 22 years.

In her leisure time, Irene enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and crocheting. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Irene and Sherman loved to travel and for 25 years they never missed visiting Las Vegas at least twice a year. One of their favorite places to spend time together was in Aruba.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Sherman Wickline; two sons, Robert Wickline and his wife, Krista (Montgomery) and Bruce Wickline and his wife, Debbie, all of Butler; three grandchildren, Gregory Wickline and his wife, Emily, of Lower Burrell and Melissa Wickline and Matthew Wickline, both of Butler.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Russell Wayne Baker; and two sisters, Louise Rupert and Helen Lynds.
